Seifi Ghasemi, CEO of Rockwood Holdings, has often tried to hire highly skilled foreign nationals to work at his West Windsor specialty chemicals and advanced materials company — only to find that they must be sent back to their home countries to wait for their visa applications to clear.
In some cases, the lengthy process results in the loss of a promising hire, Ghasemi said at a conference on “smart immigration” reform last week.
“After a while these people say, ‘This is not worth it,’” he said.
