Statement from NAE Executive Director Jeremy Robbins on the Reintroduction of the Farm Workforce Modernization Act
Date: March 4, 2021
Following Reps. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) and Dan Newhouse (R-WA) reintroducing the Farm Workforce Modernization Act, New American Economy issued the following statement:
“The COVID-19 pandemic has shown the crucial role immigrants play in the U.S. food supply chain, and that work begins on America’s farms,” said Jeremy Robbins, Executive Director of New American Economy. “The Farm Workforce Modernization Act recognizes the contributions made by undocumented farmworkers by providing them a path to legal status, and would make significant improvements to the H-2A temporary worker visa program going forward. This bipartisan legislation is a necessary component of the broader effort to reform our outdated immigration system.”
