The Contributions of New Americans in Ohio
Date: August 3, 2016
For many years, Ohio has suffered some of the worst population decline in the country, especially among its younger population. Between 2000 and 2012, for example, Ohio had the third-worst population growth rate among all states, according to an analysis of the U.S. Census data by the nonpartisan Buckeye Institute. More recently, Ohio policymakers have aimed to address this issue by encouraging more foreign-born students to remain in the state after graduation. They have also taken steps to attract more working-age residents to the state.
