Wisconsin is home to roughly 71,000 undocumented immigrants. These individuals are far more likely than the native-born population to be in the prime of their working years.
Saying that essential jobs in Wisconsin’s economy can’t be filled without foreign workers, a coalition of Wisconsin business and civic leaders on Wednesday launched a campaign for immigration policy reform.
It’s part of a national effort, from New American Economy, to recognize the contributions of immigrants, and to stress the need for policy reforms. Research was co-sponsored by a wide range of businesses and organizations including Intel, Microsoft, Google, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the American Farm Bureau Federation.
The Wisconsin coalition includes the Dairy Business Association, the Latino Chamber of Commerce of Dane County and the Wisconsin Restaurant Association.
