SAN ANTONIO — New study based on census and other government data shows immigrants in San Antonio are spending billions of dollars, adding major money into our local economy.
New American Economy research shows immigrants in San Antonio in 2016 held more than $5.1 billion in spending power and contributed more than $1.55 billion in state and local taxes.
These findings are part of NAE’s Map the Impact tool, an interactive map that quantifies the economic contributions of immigrants in the 100 largest metro areas in the United States, from their role in local labor markets and their entrepreneurship to their home ownership rates.
